The ongoing crisis in Afghanistan and its human impact has been on the hearts and minds of the people of Cornerstone Alliance Church. In response, Cornerstone’s leadership is committed to sponsor an Afghan refugee family to give hope, as an act of love, in the name of Jesus Christ.

The Plan for Sponsorship includes:

• Development of our team
• Requests for ongoing & faithful prayer
• Funding
• Application & Preparation
• Settlement

The sponsorship team will lead by example and encourage Cornerstone to participate in organized prayer initiatives.

Please join us in prayer for discernment to follow the will of the Lord, for doors to be opened for funding and partnership opportunities, and for success in His eyes.

Our pledge is to raise $40,000 to cover one year of settlement support. To accomplish this, we will look to multiple sources. Cornerstone has setup a designated fund specifically for this project so that donations can be tax receipted. Please specify "Afghan Refugee Sponsorship" for contributions.

The ongoing crisis in Afghanistan and its human impact has been on the hearts and minds of the people of Cornerstone Alliance Church. In response, the Cornerstone family has committed to fundraising $40,000 to sponsor an Afghan refugee family of four to give hope and welcome them into our community in an act of humanitarianism. The family of four we are planning to sponsor now live outside Afghanistan in a neighbouring country in a precarious situation. Our plan is to financially partner with socially responsible and invested community networks and friends (like you) to facilitate a safe new life for this Afghan family at risk.

A little about our family of four:

They are registered as asylum seekers with UNHCR and we are currently working through the Canadian government application process to bring them to Canada. Cornerstone Alliance Church has created an Afghan Refugee Sponsorship designated fund for the purpose of holding and dispersing the funds needed to cover one full year of settlement in Winnipeg, when our family arrives. A team of six people from our congregation has been put together to administer these funds responsibly and follow through on the entire refugee sponsorship process including the settlement year.

Dessert Fundraiser

We invite you to attend our Dessert Fundraiser evening in honor of our Afghan family. It will be held on June 16 from 7-9 at Cornerstone Alliance Church, and in addition to hearing more about our project, there will be a variety of amazing desserts and coffee.
